About the Center

Welcome to the 21st Century Center for Research & Development in Cognition and Science Instruction website. The Center has completed major experimental studies funded by the U.S. Department of Education on the effects of middle school science curriculum revisions based on cognitive science principles. The Center also conducted a national conference in May 2013 in Washington, DC on these studies. The Center has since conducted numerous follow up studies. Center staff members have prepared many professional conference presentations and journal articles on the Center’s work.
